In seminar 5, we had to in our groups design a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), this is used to represents all activities that will be performed at our event. The whole idea behind this was to see the event scheduele and budgets which was my job as I am in the commercial team and capturing all work that needs to be done, estimate costs for the WBS elements. John's Role (Operations Team) is to determine order and duration of WBS elements as an input into scedule and Julien's Role (Marketing Team) is to finalize promotional requirements that might be needed for the event. This also allowed us to create an event risk management plan which is the operations team and production teams job. To design a WBS, we used an example of a tricycle, we listed all the components that would be needed to make a tricycle and used sub components that would be used to make a frame or add to a full working frame e.g. 1.1 frame set---->>> 1.1.1 Handle bar ---->>>> 1.1.2 Handle Bar e.t.c.
The use of a WBS is to aggregate tasks under headings or aggregrate tasks into work groups in the organisation.
In our groups we had to create a Work Breakdown Structure on Paper and decide what event elements are needed to create our event and what sub task are needed and what element they fall under.
